Kyla Johnk

Between Rhythm and Rawness:

Close observations of texture, color, and unease.

Kyla Johnk’s work captures fleeting fragments of the world textures, colors, and movements drawn from both nature and the urban landscape. Guided by intuition, her creative process unfolds in stillness and spontaneity, where observation transforms into abstraction. Each piece becomes a visual rhythm, balancing freedom and focus, beauty and unease.

Madrid-based and originally from the Colorado Rocky Mountains, Kyla Johnk creates paintings that explore the overlooked patterns and hidden structures of her surroundings. Through close observation, she distills fragments of reality into compositions that feel both grounded and ethereal. Her process is one of surrender—she paints suspended in time, allowing instinct and accident to lead the way.
Recently, her work has expanded beyond surface beauty to confront deeper emotional terrains, reflecting on fear, vulnerability, and the uneasy truths of the world we inhabit. The result is a body of work that moves between tenderness and intensity, urging viewers to look closer, linger longer, and find meaning in what often goes unseen.
