Francesca Borgo
Shifting Landscapes:
A Visual Dialogue Between Nature and the Human Spirit

1/3
The fluid forms in Francesca’s work are not just abstractions; they are poetic reflections of resilience, transformation, and the ever-shifting dialogue between nature and the human spirit.
Francesa Borgo’s work intertwines the ever-changing forces of nature with the resilience of the human spirit, creating a visual language that mirrors the fluidity of transformation. Through layered textures and organic movement, she captures the delicate tension between chaos and calm, strength and surrender. Her compositions dissolve the boundaries between land, water, and air, reflecting the constant evolution of both the natural world and our own personal landscapes. By translating these elemental rhythms onto canvas, she invites viewers to see nature not just as scenery, but as a profound metaphor for adaptation, endurance, and renewal.

BIO

In her paintings, Italian artist Francesca Borgo (b. 1970) blends colors with tactile elements, creating emotional and dreamlike abstract landscapes. Using both diluted and thick layers of acrylic paint, sand mixed with resin, and occasionally metallic pigments and paper, she shapes nuanced effects that bring depth and tension to her work. The contrasts she generates—smooth vs. grainy, light vs. shadow—are always harmonized into an overarching sense of grace and elegance.
The incorporation of additional sensory elements invites viewers to engage with the artwork on multiple levels, stirring personal memories, thoughts, and emotions, and ultimately inspiring a sense of inner balance and harmony. A self-taught painter, she works internationally on residential, hotel, and hospitality projects. Her intimate and ethereal works are held in private collections primarily in the USA, Europe, and the UK.
In June 2022, one of her paintings was selected by the Royal Academy of Arts for the Summer Exhibition in London, UK. In June 2024, another of her paintings was exhibited as part of a side event during the Venice Biennale in Italy.
