Gil Gelpi
Sculpting transformation and memory:
Exploring the fluid boundaries of substance, time, and identity.

Gil Gelpi’s sculptures are not static forms; they are ever-evolving entities that embody transformation, dissolution, and renewal through material and memory.
Gil Gelpi interprets the human body and all that exists as a substance in constant transformation. His sculptures capture an organic logic—an intuitive system of growth that mirrors bacterial patterns, where the inside melts with the outside, fusing impulses, emotions, energies, and memories into ever-evolving forms.
The use of recycled materials in his work is not just an environmental statement but an extension of his philosophy: nothing is static, everything is in a continuous process of becoming, decaying, and regenerating. By integrating materials with a past life, he infuses his pieces with an inherent narrative—objects reborn, carrying traces of time and existence.
His figures often appear fragmented or eroded, as if shaped by the invisible forces of time. They embody both fragility and resilience, inviting viewers to reflect on the impermanence of identity and the fluid nature of being. In his work, the body is not a fixed entity but a porous surface—absorbing, changing, and breathing the world around it.
